GOT SOMETHING TO SAY? WRITE A PLAY!

Imagine....The theatre is dark. The curtain opens. Your characters are on a stage walking, talking,

and being who you created them to be. The YVNV Short Play Fest Competition is for you! 

Script Submission Guidelines:


Students grades 3-12 are eligible.

Scripts must be 10-30 minutes in length. (30 page max.)

Only one script per playwright will be considered.

Scripts must be submitted in English.

Use of a narrator is discouraged.

Script must be submitted electronically via email to: yvnvplay@gmail.com


In addition to the play, all submissions must include:


Contact information - Name, Address, Age, E-mail, School and Parent Contact Information (if under 21)

A brief synopsis of the play

Character breakdown

Please note that we are unable to consider any submissions that do not include all of the above materials. 

Year-round Submissions Accepted

Plays received before March 15 will be considered for the YVNV Short Play Competition.

Grand Prize in the Primary (grades 3-6) and Secondary (grades 7-12) is a staged production at the

Young Voices With New Visions Short Play Festival.

YVNV Short Play Competition adjudicators are industry professionals, and college and university professors from various

institutions including Lehman College (NY), and Florida A & M.

YVNV does not provide travel or housing for winning playwrights to attend the YVNV SHORT PLAY FEST in Atlanta, GA

She is the editor of Black Comedy: 9 Plays-A Critical Anthology With Interviews and Essays. Her training includes a B.A. Drama, Spelman College;

M.F.A. Dramaturgy/Criticism, Columbia University,; M.Ed. Early Childhood Education, Georgia State University; and Talented and Gifted Certification.
